Navtej Kaur Kang
Founder & Executive Director

Navtej oversees the organization’s strategic vision, partnerships, and community engagement efforts. She earned her Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science at the University of British Columbia and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree there as well. Navtej has extensive experience in health education and is passionate about advancing health literacy in the community. In her spare time, she enjoys movies and jigsaw puzzles. Navtej looks forward to connecting with youth who share her vision for a healthier, more informed future. 

Pavneet Kaur Dhillon
Volunteer Coordinator

Pavneet is a grade 12 student at KSS and a passionate advocate for health education. She plans to pursue a career in medicine and is dedicated to providing the youth with the opportunities and resources they need to achieve their goals. As the Volunteer Coordinator for the Youth Health Literacy Network, she runs volunteer orientations, takes in applications and questions, and helps manage the Health Unfiltered program. In her free time, Pavneet enjoys reading and writing, pursuits that fuel her creativity.

Varneet Kaur Dhaliwal
Social Media Coordinator

Varneet is a grade 12 student at Khalsa Secondary School with a strong passion for the medical field. She aspires to pursue a career as a doctor, where she hopes to make meaningful contributions to people’s health and well-being. As the Marketing Coordinator, Varneet is responsible for managing outreach, recruiting students, and promoting initiatives to educate and engage the community. Beyond her academic and leadership roles, Varneet enjoys spending her free time in bookstores, often adding to her ever-growing collection of books. She values continuous learning, giving back to her community, and inspiring others to take initiative in their personal growth.

Gurnoor Turna
Lead Content Specialist, Reels & Shorts

Gurnoor is a Grade 12 student at KSS with a strong zeal for the medical field, striving towards her aim of becoming a health professional someday. As an active advocate for public health, from publishing educational blogs regarding common mental illnesses for the young generation through Neolth to now becoming the Lead Content Specialist for Reels & Shorts at the Youth Health Literacy Network. Gurnoor seeks to educate the public in health literacy using her creative skills. In her free time, she can be seen at the gym with her headphones on full blast or at the karate dojo learning a new kata.

Simrat Svadi
Workshop Advisor

Simrat Svadi is a final-year nursing student with two years of experience supporting patients and families in the Emergency Department of a Level 1 Trauma Centre. She has represented her university twice at the Canadian Nursing Students Association National Assembly in Halifax and Edmonton, contributing to national dialogue on the future of nursing. Her dedication to global health has taken her to Ethiopia and Uganda, where she supported initiatives addressing health disparities and vulnerabilities. Looking ahead, Simrat is eager to extend her vision into her community by educating and empowering others about health. She believes that knowledge is one of the most powerful tools we can share and is committed to inspiring young minds and fostering a stronger, healthier society.

Harleen Kaur
Lead Content Specialist, Posts/Infographics

Harleen Kaur is a Health Sciences graduate from Simon Fraser University with a strong passion for health promotion and disease prevention. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she gained valuable experience analyzing population health data as well as exploring research on substance use. Her recent work with Beyond Hoops Africa further strengthened her commitment to health literacy and effective communication, particularly for youth and newcomers to Canada. Harleen is also dedicated to community engagement and enjoys volunteering at local events. Outside of her professional and academic interests, Harleen cherishes time spent with family and friends, where she feels most authentic and happiest.

Darvesh Singh Dhillon

Web & Technology Lead


Darvesh Singh is a BSc. Psychology graduate from UBC with a passion for social work and seva. Throughout his degree he volunteered with various organizations in BC helping them with website design and backend support. He is currently a Child and Youth Care Counsellor at Options Community Services and is dedicated to advocating for youth health in the lower mainland. In his free time he also volunteers with the Sikh Recovery network in the Lower Mainland helping with weekly AA Style Meeting Circles and retreats for Sikh men.

Ekam Dhillon

Outreach Coordinator


Ekam Singh Dhillon is a grade 11 student at Khalsa Secondary School with a growing commitment to medicine, youth advocacy, and community engagement. With aspirations to pursue a career in the medical field, he actively seeks opportunities that strengthen his leadership and communication skills. As the Health Unfiltered Coordinator for the Youth Health Literacy Network, Ekam oversees the planning and organization of weekly meetings, and helps with other logistics within the organization. Outside of the Youth Health Literacy Network, he brings discipline from his athletic pursuits swimming, karate, and golf and enjoys spending time outdoors with friends and family, especially on hikes.
