Workshops & Seminars
Currently we offer 2 unique workshops for community members residing in the Lower Mainland.
1. Vape Awareness: This interactive workshop helps students understand what vaping is, how it affects the body, and why it can be harmful. Through clear explanations, real facts, and engaging activities, participants learn about the chemicals in vape products, how vaping impacts the brain and lungs, and why nicotine addiction can start so quickly. The goal is to give students the knowledge and confidence to make healthy decisions and resist peer pressure.
2. The Science of Diabetes: In this session, we explain how the pancreas works, how it controls blood sugar, and what happens in the body when diabetes develops. Participants learn the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, common risk factors, and why some people are more likely to develop the condition.
Health Unfiltered
Health Unfiltered is a monthly discussion series where youth come together to engage in open dialogue about health and wellness. It is an interactive and empowering platform for youth to voice their opinions and learn more about the different aspects of healthcare.
The main goal of this program is to foster leadership among youth through health literacy engagement. Weekly virtual discussions bring together multiple cohorts, providing volunteer youth participants with opportunities to enhance their public speaking, communication, and leadership skills.
Join our Health Unfiltered program and gain volunteer hours for participating in health focused discussions! Contact Pavneet Dhillon (pd.healthliteracy@gmail.com) for more information.
Student Ambassador Program
The Student Ambassador Program empowers high school students across the Lower Mainland to become leaders in health literacy within their own school communities. Selected ambassadors support outreach, recruitment, and awareness initiatives while working alongside our team to help plan and promote school-based workshops and events.
Through peer-to-peer engagement, ambassadors help create safe, inclusive spaces for youth to learn, ask questions, and build the skills needed to make informed health decisions. The program offers leadership development, volunteer hours, mentorship, and hands-on experience in community health advocacy
Social Media Engagement
Our social media team focuses on creating health-focused yet relatable content. We share practical tips and gentle reminders that inspire healthier choices in daily life. By sparking awareness and encouraging conversation, we aim to make health literacy approachable for everyone.
